Scholarships

As a family-oriented organization, PFLAG is deeply committed to making the world a better place for our loved ones.

Thanks to our generous donors, we’re thrilled that we can support local youth who are committed to the same goals. Every year we award several scholarships to students — of any gender identity or sexual orientation — who have demonstrated service to the LGBTQ+ community.

eQuality Scholarship Collaborative

For over 30 years, PFLAG San Jose / Peninsula has maintained a scholarship program for students residing in or attending school in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. We started with $500 in awards and currently award five to seven $6,000 scholarships each year. The grand total is more than three-quarters of a million dollars given to worthy high school senior activists to reward them and to encourage them to continue their LGBTQ+ activism in college and beyond..

Since 2018 we have partnered with eQuality Scholarship Collaborative^SM, which has a well-established electronic application and review system. In addition to the scholarships we sponsor for local high school seniors, eQuality administers the process for several other organizations. These other scholarships may benefit those who live elsewhere in northern or central California, are transferring from community college, or are pursuing a medical degree in California.

Applications for all scholarships are submitted through the eQuality’s application system, with a submission deadline of January 31.
