PFLAG San Jose / Peninsula runs on volunteers.
The Board of Directors and all officers are volunteers drawn from our membership.
We are always looking for fresh faces with new ideas, passions and energy!
Not ready for the Board? Join others on a Committee to help:
- Manage the Scholarship program
- Manage the Speakers Bureau program
- Coordinate volunteers for local Pride and other events
- Update our website (can be non-technical)
- Assist our Treasurer
- Provide meals quarterly for homeless LGBTQ youth
Want to volunteer for a smaller role?
- Read scholarship applications in February
- Assemble our Newsletter (not write it all!) (see sample)
- Speak on a panel about your family’s LGBTQ experience
- Help staff a table with PFLAG information at a Pride event
- Coordinate our participation in San Francisco Pride in June
- Coordinate our participation in Silicon Valley Pride in August
- Check the resources on our website for needed updates
- Help plan a picnic, hike, social event, or casual get together
- Tack up a PFLAG flyer now and then, here and there
Advocacy more your thing?
- Contact your representatives about pending legislation.
- Go to Sacramento with a group of advocates.
- Email Advocacy@pflagsanjose.org to be added to a list to get alerts.
