Our Mission
To create a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.
Our Vision
An equitable, inclusive world where every LGBTQ+ person is safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved.
Founded in 1973, PFLAG is the first and largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and their families. Started in 1985, the PFLAG San Jose / Peninsula chapter meets people where they are and collaborates with others to realize its vision through:
Support for families, allies and people who are LGBTQ+
PFLAG provides support to families and allies through peer-to-peer meetings, online outreach, and telephone hotlines. PFLAG National also offers a huge variety of resources, booklets and programs that provide support for those in need.
Education for all of us about the unique issues and challenges facing people who are LGBTQ+
In meetings we share experiences, books, and other resources with each other. We reach out to educate the community with our Speakers Bureau and presence at Pride events.
Advocacy in our communities to change attitudes and create policies and laws that achieve full equality for people who are LGBTQ+
No voice is more powerful or persuasive than that of a PFLAG member or supporter. We know firsthand the impact that discriminatory laws have on ourselves and our loved ones. We provide opportunities to make our presence felt and our voices heard at public gatherings concerning legislative and judicial decisions.
